Tarn Parker is a self-taught contemporary artist born on Wiradjuri Country in Wagga Wagga. Now living and creating on Yorta Yorta Country with her two children, Tarn has been a key member of Kaiela Arts since 2014, where she was mentored by Gamilaraay artist Uncle Eric Brown. She now leads the studio as Studio Manager, supporting other artists while continuing to grow her own vibrant practice.
Working across painting, drawing, printmaking, and large-scale murals, Tarn’s work is bold, expressive, and deeply personal. “Art has always been a vessel for expressing my ties to Country and family. My pieces often carry heavy celestial vibes, undertones of feminism, politics, and tradition.” Her 12.5-metre mural, described as a “brain scan,” was featured in an ABC mini-documentary in 2021.
Tarn’s leadership at Kaiela Arts helps create a supportive and culturally safe environment for artists to thrive. She has collaborated with Spacecraft Studio since 2018, with her textile designs featured in Design Roots exhibitions, the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair, and Vogue Australia. Tarn also co-created Yalka Lotjpa Nha, a children’s Yorta Yorta language book, merging her creative and cultural work to strengthen community connection through art.
