Kids On Tour – ART FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!

Coinciding with the NGV’s Kids Summer Festival, a range of hand’s-on art activities will be delivered around the state between 15 – 23 January 2022.

Kaiela Arts January 2022 Holiday Program

Kaiela Arts Shepparton is delighted to be part of the NGV Kids on Tour program to regional Victorian galleries and venues. Coinciding with the NGV’s Kids Summer Festival, a range of hand’s-on art activities will be delivered around the state between 15 – 23 January 2022.

At Kaiela Arts, the 2022 Kids on Tour program offers participants a wonderful array of stories and artmaking activities for learning about First Nations art, young designers and other artists. One activity from our region looks at the work of Maree Clark. Participants will learn about the significance of possum skin cloaks and create a map for a design in her Possum-Skin Cloaks activity. Young children can practice their art making skills by making paper jewellery in Paper Jewels or a diorama for a mythical mermaid in We are Mermaids. An assortment of drawing, reading activities and takeaway games will allow young children to ‘go wild’ as they learn about birds and other Australian animals.

Guided by the work of Fashion Stylist, Aurie Indianna, young teens, will learn about styling and gain insights into what happens behind the scenes when they put together a ‘look’ for an imagined celebrity in Styling a Look. For budding photographers, Tom Blachford’s Shooting in the Dark, provides teens with an opportunity to ‘skill up’ by using their iphones to compose a photograph and transform an image from day to night using existing applications on a smartphone.

The Festival theme of ART FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY! encourages both young families and teens to complete one or more activities on offer and all materials are supplied. Sessions take place daily in our gallery, under the breezeway or around the lake and are free. Some sessions will require bookings in advance and others are ‘walk-ins’ at your leisure. We welcome family groups and children under 10 to be accompanied by an adult.

Details about the program will be on the Kaiela Arts website under What’s On soon! Or check out our Facebook page.

Evidence of relevant vaccination status details, such as proof of double vaccination or exemptions for adults, must be presented and all current COVID safe requirements must be adhered to.
