Ngarrimili at the Murran Hub and Kaiela Arts are proud to present a vibrant new solo exhibition by Geelong-based Yorta Yorta artist Brett Wilson, with all works available to buy.
Wilson’s new work blends traditional story-telling and contemporary Aboriginal visual language to capture the beauty and spirit of Yorta Yorta Country. His colourful paintings are rich with texture and symbolism, showing his love for his culture and family.
“There is a part of who I am in each artwork… I’m inspired by my culture and nature – the shape of the lands, the rivers and the plants and animals.” Wilson says.
A long-time Kaiela Arts artist member, Wilson’s practice spans painting, ceramics, printmaking, jewellery and mural work. We are proud to see him exhibit in Geelong for the first time through this exciting new partnership between Kaiela Arts and Ngarrimili, highlighting the commitment of both organisations to amplifying First Nations voices in the art world.
All are welcome to celebrate the opening of Brett Wilson’s exhibition at Murran (a new innovative space for First Nations businesses, creatives and individuals in Geelong) and learn more about the cultural significance of one of Geelong’s hidden creative gems.
