Tori Day

Tori is a proud Gunditjmara, Wemba Wemba and Yorta Yorta woman. Growing up in an artistic family, she too took interest in the creative area by doing music, simple drawings, sketches, and event discovered a talent for weaving.

Singing and music was a big part of Tori’s life. She found an interest in the piano, where she taught herself how to play by listening to each note she played. At the age of 12, she joined the Dungala Children’s Choir with Indigenous Opera Singer, Deborah Cheetham, where she performed in the Opera Pecan Summer until she was 19.

Tori slowly started to move in a different direction with her art and began sketching. It was here she found a fascination with contracts, shadings and how it can make an image come to life. At the same time, she began weaving and discovered she would manage to weave a basket backwards as she is left-handed, making her work unique to her.

Tori hopes to one day create a positive name for herself in the art world and help people discover their talents and achieve their goals in areas they are passionate about.
