Ally Knight is a proud Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, and Kamilaroi woman born and raised in Shepparton. A multidisciplinary artist and cultural educator, she works across weaving, ceramics, painting, and screen-printing drawing from Country, community, and culture.
Ally began weaving after the birth of her son, mentored by fellow Kaiela Arts artist Suzanne Atkinson, and has since developed a distinctive style using natural materials like lomandra, combungi and ethically sourced raffia. She is the founder of Mulana Earth, her creative business that celebrates cultural connection through handcrafted works.
Ally’s practice has been featured in exhibitions at Kaiela Arts, the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair, and Melbourne Art Fair (2025). Currently, she is the Ceramics Coordinator at Kaiela Arts, supporting the ceramics program and contributing to Galnyatj Education and Culture. Her work champions sustainability, cultural storytelling, and creating safe spaces for sharing Aboriginal knowledge and practice.
She says, “The cultural knowledge, creative skills, and inspiration I’ve gained at Kaiela Arts flow into my small business Mulana Earth, where I explore weaving, clay, and storytelling in my own way.”
