Irene is a proud Bangerang woman, from a long line of strong Bangerang women. She loves painting, ceramics, drawing, jewellery-making and sketching. She explains it as inherited knowledge from her ancestors and feels it’s a direct connection to her culture. Irene tries to barter for her seeds as often as possible, trading jewellery for supplies is a direct connection to the traditional system used by Indigenous people. She makes bracelets, earrings, rings and necklaces, often attending markets to sell her pieces. Irene often works with schools story-telling and teaching children about Aboriginal culture.
