Glass beads to dazzle and delight you – learn how, and participate in Beads of Culture.
Kerry Plozza received a Bachelor of Visual Arts, from Curtin University of Technology, in Perth, WA, in 1994 with a major in Fibre textiles and a minor in Glass and ceramics. In 2001 Kerry received a Graduate Diploma in Education (secondary) with a Double major in teaching Art and TESOL.
In 2013 Kerry learnt lampworking with Leanne Gryils and has thoroughly practiced those skills for the last 5 years. She is captivated by the mouldable accessibility that hot glass work allows for in the creation of intricate sculptures. Colour and form are key elements in Kerry’s work. In the beginning of her practice making traditional beads seemed too common a practice so she chose to initially concentrate on making sculptural lamp-worked animal beads. In 2015 Kerry bought a kiln and expanded her glass practice into glass fusing by using her own lamp-worked glass animals, plants and millefiori to create intricate pictures and pendants. Kerry’s inspiration comes from the natural world and its endless array of forms, patterns and colour combinations.
Kerry has sold her glass work in shops, markets, online and at exhibition. She has exhibited her glass work every year since 2013 and has exhibited in Shepparton, Mansfield and Margaret River.
