The PROUD & STRONG Fundraising Appeal – growing opportunities for local First Nations students!
Our recent PROUD & STRONG Fundraising Appeal wrapped up just over a month ago and we’re still feeling the buzz and warmth of our community’s response.
Running from 20 April to 30 May as an End of Financial Year giving campaign, the appeal set a target of $15,000, to be matched dollar-for-dollar by Creative Australia through a Plus 1 grant, with a stretch goal of one $5,000 major gift. The results far exceeded our expectations with $17,439 raised across 79 individual donations, plus a $10,000 matched gift from the Department of Rural Health, University of Melbourne – doubling our stretch target and tripling our donations.
In total, the campaign raised $42,439!
Beyond the figures, the PROUD & STRONG appeal has shown us that our community understands the value of Galnyatj just as much as we do – and that it’s vital not only for our young people, but for Kaiela Arts itself, as a platform to nurture the next generation of artists, storytellers and cultural leaders.
And what does this mean for Galnyatj? The funds raised in the appeal will allow Kaiela Arts to fully subsidise workshop fees, materials and transport for schools that need it most over the next 12 months – so no young mob miss out.
