The butterflies represent change, evolving from one from to another. The lizard is crawling out of the water searching for something. Glitter representing the shine from the water while crawling amongst the leaves and flowers (Walking the land). Overall the painting represents growth and new beginnings.

About the Artist

Tahnee Day

Tahnee Day is a proud Gunditjmara, Wemba Wemba, Yorta Yorta woman. She loves creating art and intricate designs utilising acrylic paint pens and other non-conventional mediums such as makeup and face paint. Tahnee is always willing to learn new techniques and says her practice is ever evolving. She likes to experiment with different mediums and has big love for today’s modern makeup, especially cinemagraphic makeup.

More recently Tahnee has expanded her practice into Fashion and textiles participating in the Blak Design Program presented by the Koorie Heritage Trust in partnership with The Ian Potter Foundation and RMIT University which produced the exhibition: STITCHIN STORIES: BLAK & THREADLY, opened in March 2025.
