Sharon is a proud Yorta Yorta, Kalitheban, and Wollithiga Winyarr (woman) with strong ancestral ties to Cummeragunja, NSW. With over 30 years of experience serving her community, Sharon began her career as a kindergarten teacher with Save the Children before transitioning to Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative in Mooroopna, where she has worked for more than 11 years. Currently a Principal Practitioner, Sharon has previously worked across multiple areas including Family and Engagement services. Her extensive roles have included C2K Practitioner, Therapeutic Practitioner in Out-of-Home Care (OOHC), Cultural Advisor for Child Safety Programs (CSPs), Acting Executive Manager, and Program Manager overseeing five major programs: AFLDM, IFS, BOORIE, FPRR, 200HRS, and KEFE—leading a team of 15 staff. Sharon holds a Bachelor of Early Childhood and taught in various kindergarten settings for over three decades. She has also completed a postgraduate degree in Family Therapy, a Certificate IV and a Master-level qualification in Thera play, and training in Drumbeat. She says “I have always had a passion for therapeutic work; my vision is to help create a space for my Aboriginal community to start their healing journey by connecting to culture and connection in a spiritual way. I strongly believe cultural connection is the way for our people to achieve these outcomes, while also incorporating mainstream modalities.”
