Mya Falla has been part of the Kaiela Arts team for the past two years, starting as a Front of House Gallery Assistant and recently stepping into her new role as Marketing and Engagement Assistant.
Gifted the name Muguy, meaning “constant” in her traditional language, Mya is passionate about growing her cultural knowledge and creative practice.
Born and raised in Greater Shepparton, Mya holds a deep respect for Yorta Yorta Country, where many of her childhood memories were made. As a Dulguburra Yidinji woman, she also has a strong connection to her mother’s Country in the rainforest and crater lakes of the Tablelands, inland from Gimuy (Cairns). She enjoys spending time in Queensland with her mob, especially at the beach and in the rainforest, where she connects with her totem, the cassowary.
Mya has been connected to Kaiela Arts from a young age, attending workshops and events before later joining the team. In her new role, she looks forward to building and strengthening connections with community through creative programs and art workshops.
Mya shares that working at Kaiela Arts provides a space that reflects her values, celebrates art and storytelling, and supports her to continue learning about her culture and community.
