Dharnya Day

Another highlight was being part of the annual Dharnya Day where we ran a stall with lots of NAIDOC Week specials on our products and merchandise. Seeing all our families and community come together to celebrate culture, Country, spirit and the official opening of the new Dharnya Centre was such a joy.“Dharnya holds so many precious memories for our families. It forms part of our collective memory as Yorta Yorta people – a place where we gathered to celebrate, share knowledge, tell stories, and welcome all who came to visit. Congratulations to Yorta Yorta Nations, all the organisers and everyone who supported the creation of this beautiful facility. We look forward to making many new memories for years to come.” – Belinda Briggs, Kaiela Arts Vice President.

Kaiela Arts staff and artist Mya Falla attended the day and reflected;

“I was overjoyed to be a part of such an incredible event, it’s a beautiful way that Kaiela Arts get to connect with community for NAIDOC week. It was so inspiring to see the range of First Nations businesses and creatives came together to share their work and celebrate 50 Years of Deadly!” – Mya
