Amanda Briggs-Ormiston is a proud Yorta Yorta woman. She grew up in Shepparton not knowing about her Aboriginal heritage until she attended school. She enjoys experimenting with new and different techniques and styles in making art. Her inspiration comes from the knowledge passed down from her ancestry. She paints, draws and makes sand paintings. Her work is heavily laden with symbolism. Her journey exists from culture, love and understanding and from a strong sense of family. Her family, the Briggs mob has a long history with Shepparton.
Amanda paints from her imagination, she says: “I see what I paint in my mind and then bring it to life on canvas.”
